Dynamic DNS Policies

While we may recommend certain Dynamic DNS client software and may provide suggested configuration information, we only provide support for the client in which we have provided. Our client is available at the following URL:

https://dynamicdns.pairdomains.com

Please understand that while we don’t require customers to use any specific client, we do set minimum client guidelines to ensure the stability of our Dynamic DNS System. You may be blocked from our services if the client software you choose fails to meet our guidelines. Further, even if the client software does meet our guidelines, it may still be blocked if it interferes with the ability of other customers to use our services

Mandatory Client Behavior

Mandatory Client Behavior for the Pair Domains Dynamic DNS service includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Client software will send a unique user agent identifier that uniquely identifies the client software name, revision, and information about the origins of the software
  • Client software will only send valid address information corresponding to a routable IPv4 address
  • Client software will only update when the IP address is different from the IP address of the most recent update

Forbidden Client Behavior

Forbidden Client Behavior for the Pair Domains Dynamic DNS service includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Client software will not send requests to or access anything except for /nic/update at the hostname dynamic.pairdomains.com
  • Client software will not reverse engineer Web requests to dynamic.pairdomains.com
  • Client software will not hardcode any IP address of a Pair Domains Dynamic DNS server
  • Client software will not attempt to update after receiving an error response to an update request
  • Client software will not perform DNS updates to check if the client IP address need to be updated
  • Client software will not access the Pair Domains IP detection script more than once every 10 minutes (myip.pairdomains.com)
